Robert Sanchez started in goal for Chelsea in their 2-2 draw with Wrexham, but there is no guarantee that he will be the No.1 when the season starts.
Both Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic look to be in a bit of trouble right now, with Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Jorgensen wants to join Chelsea, and you suspect that the 22-year-old does not want to leave Villarreal to be a No.2 after the season he has just had.
Jorgensen was one of the top performing goalkeepers in La Liga last term. In fact, no shot-stopper made more saves than the Denmark U21 international (143), according to FBref.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has now been discussing whether his club could indeed sign another goalkeeper before the transfer window closes.

Enzo Maresca on Chelsea’s goalkeeper situation
In terms of numbers, Chelsea are not exactly light in the goalkeeper department. Sanchez and Petrovic are currently the team’s No.1 and No.2.
Marcus Bettinelli is also part of the first-team squad, while Lucas Bergstrom has travelled to the United States for the Blues’ pre-season tour.
Nevertheless, Maresca has not ruled out the possibility of Chelsea signing another goalkeeper this summer.
Speaking to football.london and other outlets after his side’s 2-2 draw with Wrexham, the Italian said: “We will see. We have four goalkeepers. Petro has an injury. When the transfer window is open, anything can happen for us.”
Should Chelsea sign a new goalkeeper?
Chelsea only recruited Sanchez and Petrovic last summer. Honestly, it seems a bit harsh to try and replace them after just one season.
The club should give them another year and see if one of the two can prove that they are good enough to be the team’s No.1.
If not, then Chelsea can go and sign a new shot-stopper in the 2025 summer transfer window. It appears, though, that the Blues want to bring in someone else now.
According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea want a goalkeeper whose feet can be trusted.
