Chelsea have started to get a move on recently by selling and loaning out several players, but there could still be plenty more business to come during what’s left of the summer transfer window.
The Blues must now try to balance out what’s looking like quite a large squad at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have loaned out Alfie Gilchrist, Gabriel Slonina and Eddie Beach all in this past week. Incidentally, local media praised Gilchrist’s debut performance for Sheffield United, helping them beat Preston 2-0 in the opening game of the Championship.
In terms of sales, Enzo Maresca’s side have said goodbye to the likes of Omari Hutchinson, Ian Maatsen and Lewis Hall in this window.

Bashir Humphreys will soon leave Chelsea
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed via X that Chelsea’s Bashir Humphreys is expected to leave Stamford Bridge “in the coming days”.
It is explained that the 21-year-old youngster will soon depart either on loan or permanently. Apparently, the Blues would prefer to sell the English central defender.
Romano adds that Championship clubs Leeds United and Burnley are showing “concrete interest” in the Chelsea centre-half, plus German Bundesliga teams are lurking in the background as well.
Bashir Humphreys wise to move
If Trevoh Chalobah has been frozen out at Chelsea this summer, Humphreys surely doesn’t stand much chance of forcing his way into the picture.
Humphreys, who’s come through the academy at Chelsea, has played two first-team matches for the Blues so far in his career. It’s hard to imagine him getting into the current main squad, though.
The young centre-back spent last season out on loan in the Championship with Swansea City. Former Swans manager Michael Duff described Humphreys as “outstanding” last year, via Swansea’s official website.
There’s currently an overload of centre-halves in the building at Chelsea right now, so it feels like a no-brainer for Humphreys to move on.
