Fabrizio Romano now says Chelsea are not considering selling £35m player

An update has recently emerged on the future of Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile.

Benoit Badiashile has been linked with a move to AC Milan, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that the Italian giants are interested in the 22-year-old.

And transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has since given an update on Badiashile and Chelsea on his Substack.

The centre-back is yet to play a game in the Premier League this season, but he has been injured.

The Blues signed him from AS Monaco for £35m earlier this year, as reported by BBC Sport.

Chelsea’s stance on Benoit Badiashile

According to Romano, Chelsea are not considering the sale of Badiashile and the Frenchman is still part of the club’s plans.

While the Italian journalist has said “I’m hearing” Trevoh Chalobah will still leave Stamford Bridge, it appears that one central defender that Chelsea will definitely be keeping hold of in January is Badiashile.

We think it does make sense, as the France international certainly is a centre-half with a lot of good qualities.

Being left-footed, Badiashile can obviously play on the left side of Mauricio Pochettino‘s central defence, and at 6 ft 4 he is the right height for a player in his position.

Last season, the former Monaco man won 3.2 aerial duels per game in the Premier League, which was the highest average in Chelsea’s squad (WhoScored).

Ultimately, Badiashile is a defender with a lot to offer. And still just 22 years of age, he can get much better.

He may not be in Pochettino’s starting XI right now, but again, he is just coming back from an injury. It is also important to remember that Thiago Silva is 39 and will not be at Stamford Bridge forever. Chelsea could end up needing Badiashile really soon and would be silly to entertain offers for him.
