Fabrizio Romano reveals the ‘reality’ of Arsenal’s interest in signing Chelsea’s Noni Madueke, ‘I’m told’

Arsenal have already made a number of signings from Chelsea in recent seasons, and are now being linked with another in the form of Noni Madueke.

Despite being a key player for Enzo Maresca last season, there are no reports that Madueke is untouchable at Stamford Bridge, and other clubs have taken note of this.

A number of big offers are expected for Madueke at the conclusion of the Club World Cup, with the Blues just three games away from winning the competition.

After Kepa Arrizabalaga’s move to the Emirates has been confirmed, the Gunners are being reported to have made contact with Chelsea over a move for the England winger.

Many would see the move as the Blues strengthening a direct rival, with the Blues back amongst Arsenal in the Champions League for next season.

However, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that at this point nothing is advanced between both clubs, or between Arsenal and the player.

He said: “I told you last week that Arsenal were considering a move for Madueke. From that point, I’m told that nothing has changed today.

“Lots of stories today, but the reality is that Arsenal have not sent any proposal to Chelsea. Arsenal have not sent any contract proposal to the player. They just had talks to understand the situation of the player last week.

“Madueke is one of the names on the list, but at the moment still nothing has changed in terms of negotiations yet.”

Madueke would have to battle with Bukayo Saka for a place in his preferred right-wing spot, with that being a similar story for England too.

Chelsea’s stance on Noni Madueke

Chelsea sources have made it clear that they have not made Madueke available for sale this summer, however it has not been ruled out that he could depart if the right bid comes in.

Maresca is a big fan of Madueke, however the attacking reinforcements coming into the club could make it difficult for him to earn regular minutes next season.

Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro have already joined, while a move for Mohammed Kudus has not yet been ruled out.

The Englishman will be keen to make an impact in the next round of the Club World Cup against Palmeiras to prove his worth to the club, as well as his manager.
