Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell was initially linked with a move to Manchester United earlier in the transfer window.
A lot has happened since then, with Enzo Maresca making it clear that Ben Chilwell is free to leave west London this summer.
It is good news for clubs who are interested in the Chelsea left-back, with Newcastle United being another outfit who have been linked with him.
In fact, it has been reported that Newcastle are thinking about signing Chilwell before the transfer window closes.

Will Manchester United make a move for Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell?
Last month, it was claimed that Manchester United were glancing at Chilwell, and you would imagine that a move to Old Trafford would appeal to the 27-year-old.
However, it does not look like Chilwell will get it this summer. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano was recently asked about the Chilwell to United rumours.
In response, he told The United Stand: “I also heard the stories, but what I’m hearing is that Chelsea are still looking for a permanent transfer and I don’t think Man United will go for a permanent transfer of that calibre in terms of how good is the player.
“So I think Man United will decide to go for something more like an alternative opportunity.”
Would Chelsea actually sell Ben Chilwell to Manchester United?
Chelsea and United are top six rivals, with the former finishing just three points above the latter in sixth last season.
However, United were still able to pip Chelsea to the final Europa League spot after winning the FA Cup.
Nevertheless, if the right offer comes in, it is hard to imagine Chelsea saying no to their Premier League rivals. They already did business last summer, with the Blues allowing Mason Mount to move to Old Trafford.
Chelsea have also sold players to Arsenal and Manchester City, so the club’s owners clearly have no problem trading with the enemy.
It could be a very good move for Chilwell, who is unlikely to get much game time under Maresca this season. Unfortunately for him, though, it does not look like United want a left-back as high profile as the £50m England international.
Newcastle or another Premier League outfit will probably have to be Chilwell’s landing spot during this transfer window, then.
