In the last few days, Chelsea have been linked with Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso over a possible move to Stamford Bridge. It comes at the same time that Marc Cucurella could depart.
Initial reports emerged from Italy this week, suggesting that 26-year-old left-back Cambiaso had emerged as a target for Chelsea. Cucurella is being linked with a return to Spain, notably Barcelona.
Who would you sign to replace Marc Cucurella? 🫵
Andrea Cambiaso is the latest player to be linked.
Cambiaso has starred for Juventus over the past three seasons. Initially joining Juventus in 2022 before going out on loan to Genoa, he has since played 132 times in all competitions for the Old Lady.
In that time, Cambiaso has become a 19-time Italy international and clocked up 25 goals and assists, largely as a wing-back. The stats show Cambiaso is a more attacking alternative to Cucurella.
Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea sources have played move down
The reports said that while Juventus were unwilling to sell Cambiaso last summer, they are open to a deal this time around. It comes after Juventus failed to qualify for the Champions League ahead of 2026-27.
They need to bring in some cash and find themselves in a similar position to Chelsea. However, Chelsea are not the only side interested in Cambiaso as Romano explained on his YouTube channel this week.
“I want to respond by saying, for my part, I have the utmost respect for everyone with their information. The message I’m getting from Chelsea is that they haven’t made any moves for Andrea Cambiaso.

“It’s a name I mentioned last week, saying Cambiaso could leave Juventus. There’s this possibility: if the right offer arrives for the player, but above all for Juventus, they could part ways in the summer.
“For example, Cambiaso is one of two or three candidates for the left-back role at Barcelona. He is a player that Barça has followed and evaluated, but today still there’s nothing imminent,” Romano added.
“Barcelona have other priorities before a full-back. Let’s see what happens. Chelsea haven’t made any moves yet; if they do, we’ll tell you later, but so far, Chelsea has denied having initiated a move.”
How much will Juventus request for Andrea Cambiaso?
In the summer of 2025, Man City showed interest in Cambiaso. As per the initial report, it was claimed that City even made an offer of £56m. It is unclear if this was prior to their purchase of Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Chelsea have high hopes for Josh Acheampong under Xabi Alonso…
That bid was rejected. But a year on, Juventus are willing to cash in, and clubs know this. The report states that Juventus would consider bids between £36m and £45m, a small-ish fee for one of the best in his role.
Certainly, he suits the Xabi Alonso style that brought the Spanish gaffer so much success in Germany, with Alejandro Grimaldo a key part of that side. A move for Cambiaso will hinge on the future of Cucurella.
Given Chelsea spent £60m to buy Cucurella in 2022, amortisation means anything above £20m will be a profit. But if Chelsea can rake in offers north of £45m for Cucurella, they can make a profit with Cambiaso.
