Ben Chilwell will reportedly sign a new Chelsea contract this week.

The news broke yesterday that Ben Chilwell could be set to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Now, well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an exciting update on the 26-year-old defender.

Romano has claimed on Twitter that Chilwell will soon pen his new Chelsea contract. In fact, the deal is actually set to be completed this week.

The left-back’s current deal at the Bridge runs until 2025, but he’s committing himself to a further two years in West London.

“Ben Chilwell will sign new long-term deal with Chelsea this week. It will be valid until June 2027,” Romano wrote.

“Two clubs were interested in Ben Chilwell as potential option for the summer but he only wanted to stay.”

We, along with a lot of the Chelsea fanbase, feel like a lot of work needs doing with this squad in the summer. In particular, there needs to be a large exodus of players.

However, Chilwell is one of the jewels in the crown that needs to stay at all costs.

It’s brilliant to hear the England international is on the verge of extending his stay and showing his loyalty to his future at the football club.

Graham Potter described Chilwell as “fantastic” and an “important player” at Chelsea earlier in the season. We couldn’t agree more!

Whether he’s playing left-back or left wing-back, Chilwell often stands out as one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers.

He is about to extend his stay during a huge week for the club as the Blues face Real Madrid on Wednesday night in the first leg of a Champions League quarter-final.
