Ruben Loftus-Cheek finds himself left in uncertainty after AC Milan made a strange decision during negotiations over a deal with Chelsea.

That is according to the Telegraph.

So, what has happened with Ruben Loftus-Cheek at Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, it is said that the England international was on the verge of joining AC Milan for £15m.

However, the Italian giants have suddenly decided to sack Technical Director Paolo Maldini and Sporting Director Frederic Massara, who were in charge of negotiations.

As a result, Loftus-Cheek’s move to the San Siro hangs in the balance.

That is sure to frustrate Mauricio Pochettino and Todd Boehly, as Financial Fair Play regulations means sales are important this summer – as detailed by The Athletic.

£15m for the Chelsea No.12 – who has been called “fantastic” by Graham Potter – would have been a decent sale by the Blues, especially for someone who is not considered to be a vital player.

Loftus-Cheek made 19 Premier League starts out of a possible 38 during the 2022/23 campaign, and must be sold this summer if Chelsea do plan to let him go.

The 27-year-old only has 12 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, so this summer may represent the only chance Chelsea get to make as much as £15m from his departure.

Loftus-Cheek seems keen to leave Chelsea

If Pochettino is frustrated about AC Milan putting the deal on hold, the Argentine may not be the only one.

Loftus-Cheek was willing to take a pay cut in order to push through his move to the San Siro, according to talkSPORT, so he will surely be annoyed that the Italian giants are now hesitating.

The deal is not definitely off – the Telegraph simply state that Chelsea are waiting to see what AC Milan plan to do after firing Maldini and Massara.

Therefore, make sure to keep an eye on this situation.
