Chelsea could re-sign one of their former players this summer as they look to add more experience to their squad.
It is thought that Chelsea want to sign footballers who can make an impact now after a season where their young squad has disappointed.
As a result, it now looks as though they could bring in one of their ex-defenders when the transfer window opens.
On a free transfer, he has to be considered!
Nathan Ake keen on Chelsea return
Chelsea sold Nathan Ake to Bournemouth in 2017 but could have the chance to re-sign him nearly 10 years later.
Ake is currently at Manchester City; however, his time there could be coming to an end.
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that the Blues have made contact with the player’s agent about a move this summer.

According to Phillips, Ake would “jump at a chance” to return to Stamford Bridge in a boost to his former employers.
Ake’s contract expires in 2027, so City are likely to be open to selling him now to avoid the risk of losing the central defender on a free transfer.
Ake still has a house near Cobham, though it is set for redevelopment.
Nathan Ake ideal for Chelsea
At 31 years of age, Ake is a very experienced defender who knows what the Premier League is all about.
He has made 250 appearances in the competition, according to Transfermarkt, and has won it six times. The Dutchman is excellent on the ball and can pass into midfield, something that Chelsea have lacked this season after Levi Colwill’s ACL injury.
Ake’s height is the only real concern. Other than that, he is perfect for their current squad.
If the Netherlands international is open to joining Chelsea, which does appear to be the case, the Club World Cup winners would be wise to snap him up. It would definitely be one of the smarter signings made under BlueCo.
