Chelsea are not looking at Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson as a priority transfer target right now.

That is according to well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.

There’s been recent speculation in the media linking Chelsea with a potential move for Brennan Johnson, who’s a key player for Premier League rivals Forest.

However, the latest development is that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are not currently moving for the 22-year-old attacker.

Romano has shared information that Chelsea are not making any move for Johnson right now.

“Despite rumours in the last few days about Brennan Johnson and Chelsea, from what I understand he’s not a priority target for the Blues. There are no concrete negotiations with Nottingham Forest at this stage, and although things can change in the final days of the transfer window, at the moment Chelsea are not considering Johnson as a priority target for that position,” Romano told CaughtOffside.

The Evening Standard claimed last week that Chelsea opened talks with Forest about signing £40million-rated star Johnson.

It doesn’t sound like the Wales international will be coming to Stamford Bridge, though.

The young forward scored 10 goals across all competitions last season for Forest, including eight in the Premier League.

In our view, Johnson’s best path would be another year or two at Forest to help his development. We would still like Chelsea to find one more goalscoring option before the summer transfer window closes, though.
