'Have everything ready': Romano says Chelsea are so close to extending their player's contract
Fabrizio Romano claimed that Chelsea are just one significant step away from tying down Andreas Christensen to a new contract.
Writing on Twitter, Romano announced that the Blues ‘have everything ready’ for their defender to sign a fresh deal, they just need him to accept the offer.
The transfer guru did also reveal that Barcelona and AC Milan had approached the centre-back, yet the mutual feeling was that Chelsea had beaten them to the punch.
Crossing off Christensen
Christensen has made a lot of people around Stamford Bridge very nervy in the past few months.
Next June is still circled in the diary as the date the Denmark international’s contract runs out.
It seemed at several stages before and throughout the current season that the 25-year-old’s situation had been resolved.
However, after the player and club failed to see eye-to-eye on the terms and conditions, the saga was back at stage one.
Until now, according to Romano, where it appears Chelsea have almost made their breakthrough with Christensen.
Which is extremely good timing, considering another of Thomas Tuchel’s defensive warriors looks set to depart next year.
End of the road for Rudiger?
All signs are now pointing towards Antonio Rudiger’s exit from South West London, as negotiations over an updated agreement have not moved forward.
Although the German is happy living in London and loves being a Blue, the fact his wage demands are not being met is weighing him down.
There is still time for Chelsea to turn Rudiger’s head, but they may have left it too late.
