'He's got something about him': Wayne Rooney raves about 'huge player' Chelsea reportedly want to sign
Wayne Rooney has raved about the quality of Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham, who’s reportedly a player Chelsea want to sign.
Bellingham, who only turned 19 back in June, is regarded as one of the world’s very best youngsters.
Despite still being a teenager, he’s a key figure in Germany for Dortmund, proving himself as a top player on both the Bundesliga and Champions League stages.
There’s also a lot of expectation on his shoulders from England fans heading into the World Cup this winter.
Wayne Rooney praise
England legend Rooney has given extremely high praise to Dortmund’s rising star ahead of the World Cup.
He’s tipping Bellingham to be a “huge player” for the Three Lions in Qatar. He also recalled facing him a couple of years ago on the pitch, too.
“I played against Bellingham when he was at Birmingham when I was playing for Derby,” Rooney told talkSPORT.
“He man-marked me; I think he was 16 or 17, and what I really liked about him is every time I passed the ball off, he’d leave a stud in on me. I remember thinking, ‘He’s got something about him.’
“He’s going to be a huge player for England.”
Chelsea want to sign Bellingham
Dortmund’s box-to-box midfielder is unsurprisingly linked with a host of top clubs, including Chelsea.
ESPN reported earlier this month that Chelsea’s owners think Bellingham could be a perfect signing at Stamford Bridge. There will be competition from Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid for his signature, though.
For Graham Potter’s side, he screams out as someone that would be great in the Blues line-up. You could make the case for pretty much any top rival, too.
He’s a serious goal threat from the centre of the park, scoring nine goals in 22 Dortmund appearances this season.
Chelsea are crying out for a midfielder that can create and score goals for them, which is why the Englishman would be ideal.
