Chelsea are hoping they can complete the signing of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo within the next two days.
That is according to well-respected journalist Jacob Steinberg.
Steinberg, who’s a journalist for The Guardian, has provided an update Wednesday afternoon regarding a fast-paced transfer saga.
He claims that Chelsea are hoping they can bring Moises Caicedo, 21, to Stamford Bridge in the next 48 hours. This is despite speculation that Liverpool are also in the running for the Brighton midfielder.
Apparently, the Blues are hoping to recruit Caicedo after Leeds United’s Tyler Adams, who’s having a medical today ahead of his own move to west London.
Steinberg has given the latest information on the Caicedo transfer story.
He wrote on Twitter: “Caicedo still wants Chelsea move despite bid from Liverpool. Hope remains that the deal can get done in the next 48 hours. Tyler Adams due to have Chelsea medical today.”
Journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted his famous ‘here we go’ caption on Thursday to explain that 24-year-old Leeds midfielder Adams will be completing a move to Chelsea. He added that the Blues activated the player’s £20million release clause and medical tests will follow.
The Athletic has reported that Liverpool do expect Caicedo to end up joining Chelsea.
It’s been a rollercoaster ride and a tough story to follow for the Blues fanbase, but it could be worth it if the player is holding up a Blues shirt soon.
It’s interesting to note the Blues want this Caicedo deal over the line well before Sunday’s Premier League opening fixture against Liverpool.
