Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Chelsea are in advance of Manchester United in the hunt for Youssoufa Moukoko.

Writing on Twitter, Sky Sports Germany journalist Plettenberg suggested that United are ‘monitoring’ Moukoko, but Chelsea are ‘hotter’ in their pursuit.

Borussia Dortmund’s youthful attacker has certainly built up quite a following from the Premier League in the past few seasons.

He earned the attention of Europe, let alone England, when he became the Bundesliga’s youngest ever player in 2020.

The entire globe also got a glimpse of his talents, when the 18-year-old earned the title of Germany’s youngest ever World Cup player after making an appearance in Qatar.

Add eight matches in the Champions League to the CV, and the forward has quite a reputation to uphold.

Chelsea loco for Moukoko

All this traction has boiled down to some serious rumours and reports regarding the teenager’s future at Dortmund.

His contract expires in June, meaning he will be able to leave as a free agent unless a new deal can be struck before.

Right now, there is no implication Moukoko’s employers are preparing a renewal offer.

This will be music to the ears of Chelsea and United, as the rivals ready themselves for a signing shoot-out.

Todd Boehly is not one to laydown in a transfer battle, and has the financial firepower to do the Red Devils some damage.

Old Trafford does have its own economic resources to hurl in Dortmund’s direction, so it might come down to who is prepared to pay the biggest price.
