In terms of league position, Manchester United are nowhere near Chelsea and Christopher Nkunku at the moment.

While Chelsea sit in the top six on 40 points, Manchester United are in 13th place with 26 points.

Nevertheless, the Blues and the Red Devils still remain rivals, so the former may not want to hand Christopher Nkunku over to the latter this month.

However, United have spoken to Chelsea about signing Nkunku, while they also allowed Jadon Sancho to join them last summer, so a move is not completely out of the question.

Christopher Nkunku open to Manchester United move

Nkunku is said to have agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich, who are also keen on the 27-year-old.

But it looks like he would not turn down a move to Old Trafford in a bid to find more game time.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Nkunku is open to joining United during the January transfer window.

The Frenchman came on in Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, but he has only made three starts for them in the Premier League this season.

Ruben Amorim wants Christopher Nkunku

United’s interest in Nkunku has not come out of the blue. They were linked with him towards the end of last year, with Ruben Amorim seemingly a fan.

Back in November, it was claimed that Amorim had identified Nkunku as a target for United, and it now looks like he could get his hands on his man.

If Nkunku departs Stamford Bridge before the transfer market closes at the start of February, Chelsea will need to sign a new striker.

Nkunku is the forward providing cover for Nicolas Jackson, who is not in great form right now. The 23-year-old has scored just one goal in his last nine Premier League outings.

It is one reason for Chelsea’s struggles of late. Other than Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke, no one else is really scoring for the Blues at the minute.
