At one stage, Chelsea’s chances of signing Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich looked dead.

Chelsea have an interest in Mathys Tel as they look to bring in another left winger this month.

However, it was being widely reported that the 19-year-old wanted to stay at the Allianz Arena. But since then, Bayern Munich have played three games and he has not featured in any of them.

His situation in Germany now appears to have changed in a boost to Chelsea, though the Blues could still find it difficult to sign him before the transfer market closes next week.

Chelsea face battle with seven clubs for Mathys Tel

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Bayern are set to hold more talks about Tel‘s future.

Chelsea still seem to be in the picture but, as well as the Blues, seven other clubs are also keen on the French youngster and have made loan proposals for him, claims Romano.

In total, Tel has made just two starts in the Bundesliga this season, making it no surprise that the player is considering his future.

Bayern like Christopher Nkunku, so some kind of swap deal could benefit all parties.

When was Mathys Tel’s last appearance for Bayern Munich?

Tel did not play in Bayern’s last three games against Feyenoord, Freiburg and Wolfsburg.

However, the France U21 international got 45 minutes in Bayern’s 5-0 victory over Hoffenheim, which came before their 3-2 win versus Wolfsburg, and managed to make an impact.

Tel was able to register an assist after setting up one of Leroy Sane’s two goals.

Thanks to the likes of Sane, Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise, Bayern have so many quality wide options. It is why Tel probably needs to leave the German giants if he wants regular game time.

But with Chelsea and Enzo Maresca also possessing quality out wide, there is no guarantee that he would actually get that at Stamford Bridge.
