How much money Marc Guehi wants if he signs for Chelsea – it’s more than what Cole Palmer earns

Chelsea re-signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this month could prove to be quite an expensive operation.

With Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile both injured, Chelsea could bring in a new central defender during the January transfer window.

The man whom they are being heavily linked with at the moment is Marc Guehi. It has been claimed that Chelsea have Guehi firmly in their sights as they weigh up signing another centre-back.

Bringing the 24-year-old back to Stamford Bridge, though, is going to cost the club a lot of money.

Marc Guehi likely to demand £170,000-a-week salary

If Guehi does go on to join Chelsea this month, it looks like he will become one of the highest-paid players at the club.

According to the Daily Mail, Guehi is likely to ask for a £170,000-a-week wage package, while Chelsea will probably have to pay a big transfer fee after Palace slapped a £70m price tag on him last summer.

It is a lot of money, but with Guehi’s contract expiring next summer, his people will know that there is a market for him.

If Chelsea do not want to pay the England international that, one of their rivals might. A cheaper alternative for Chelsea could be Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov.

Marc Guehi could earn more money than Cole Palmer at Chelsea

On a £170,000-a-week salary, Guehi would be earning more money than the Blues’ star player Cole Palmer, who is thought to be on £130,000 a week.

It would be a big shock if Chelsea ended up offering Guehi that kind of money, especially when they can recall Trevoh Chalobah for nothing.

In fact, it is being reported that Chelsea are contemplating whether to end Chalobah’s loan and reintegrate him into their first-team squad.

The contracts Chelsea offer these days are heavily incentivised with bonuses. If the club return to the Champions League, for example, then you would expect Palmer to get a massive pay rise.

Whatever the case, Guehi’s potential demands could derail any move to Stamford Bridge this month.
