Journalist Kieran Gill has claimed to the Daily Mail that West Ham have today registered an interest in bringing in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

The England international was yesterday the subject of a £45m bid from Everton to leave the club in the final hours of the January transfer window.

It quickly emerged that Gallagher was not keen on a move to Goodison Park, although Chelsea were open to letting him go.

Today’s reports have claimed that as many as five Premier League sides are interested in bringing him in, whilst there is interest from Germany too.

Gill has stated that one of the interested parties are West Ham, who may prefer a loan move however.

West Ham want Gallagher

He said: “The name Conor Gallagher just cropped up in a conversation about West Ham targets today. Manager David Moyes enquired about Gallagher back in the summer’s transfer window but was told Chelsea wanted him to stay with them.

“Now the 22-year-old midfielder may be available on loan until the end of the season. Everton were chasing him. But if there’s a deal to be done, I hear West Ham are interested.

“May not happen, of course – last January, West Ham tried to get Kalvin Phillips from Leeds and didn’t. But we’ll see where the Gallagher rumour takes us today.”

Any deal for Gallagher may depend on if Chelsea secure the transfer of Enzo Fernandez.

Despite offering a British record fee, the Blues have still made no breakthrough in negotiations with Benfica.
