One football agent is convinced that Chelsea are the only club in England who would be willing to pay Viktor Gyokeres’ release clause.
Viktor Gyokeres has a €100m (£85m) release clause in his Sporting Lisbon contract and an unnamed FIFA agent has told Leonino that only Chelsea are likely to reach that figure.
It is a lot of money, but the 25-year-old has been in superb form for Sporting this season.
In 27 games, Gyokeres has scored 24 goals. Fifteen of those have come in the Primeira Liga.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea considered signing Gyokeres in the January transfer window.
FIFA agent can only see Chelsea signing Viktor Gyokeres
As far as English clubs go, this unnamed football agent thinks Chelsea are the only real contender for Gyokeres’ signature.
On the Sweden international, he said: “In fact, Gyokeres has a huge market, especially in England. However, I don’t believe that they will pay the release clause. Only Chelsea, in an eventuality, could reach those figures.
“There are still other clubs interested in signing Gyokeres. Sporting’s negotiating position in this market hasn’t allowed for much talk. In the summer market, the conversation should be different.”

Viktor Gyokeres’ release clause too much for other clubs
You really cannot blame others for being reluctant to spend £85m on Gyokeres.
Is he having a good season? Yes. But Sporting signed him for just £20m (Evening Standard) and it was only a year ago he was playing in the Championship.
The teams who can afford Gyokeres may want to see a little more before investing that kind of money, and Chelsea would be wise to do the same. However, since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, you would have to question if the club have done anything wise at all. Looking at the Blues’ quick decline, a lot of people would say no.
