‘Incredible’ £50m player could sign a new contract with Chelsea this month

It feels like Conor Gallagher is enjoying a real breakout in Chelsea’s first team this season.

Therefore, we’re not that surprised to hear speculation about a potential new contract for him.

The 23-year-old midfielder is yet another product of the Blues academy to benefit from the loan system before launching into the senior squad.

It was a stop-start campaign for him last year at Stamford Bridge, but he’s started every Premier League game for Chelsea since Mauricio Pochettino became head coach in the summer.

There’s now fresh claims that suggest Conor Gallagher could sign a new contract with Chelsea this month.

TEAMalk has claimed that the Blues are looking to progress ongoing conversations that should lead to Gallagher’s contract extension.

It is explained that the box-to-box midfielder was rated at £50million in the summer amid interest from the likes of West Ham and Tottenham.

The report says that it’s now ‘increasingly likely’ the England international will stay at Stamford Bridge on new terms. In fact, there may be an agreement sorted by the turn of the year.

We’re delighted to see Gallagher establish himself as a really important member of this Blues XI under Pochettino.

He’s thriving in a new-look midfield alongside Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. There’s a licence for him as the most advanced of the trio to help the attack, so four assists in the league so far isn’t a bad return.

Speaking via BBC Sport recently, BBC pundit Michael Brown hailed Gallagher as “incredible” for his high work rate and the amount of ground he covers in games.

It’s going to be intriguing to see the dynamic of the team once everyone’s fit and available, but Gallagher’s put forward a great case for himself in the first third of the season to stay in it. There’s no doubt he’s the kind of energetic individual opponents won’t enjoy facing.
