Leeds United winger Willy Gnonto has admitted he is a massive fan of Chelsea star Raheem Sterling.

The Italian told Gazzetta dello Sport that the experience of facing him earlier in this season was one he looks back on with real pride.

The teenager has recently been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, after enjoying an impressive first full season in the Premier League.

This is despite the struggles that his club side have been facing in the league this season, with Leeds firmly in a relegation battle that has sucked up nearly half of the division.

Gnonto has had a set of breakout performances this year, as he has made himself a regular in the Italy squad since last year.

However, one of the unexpected big moments for the 19-year-old was the game against Chelsea earlier this season, when he crossed paths with Sterling, who he is a big fan of.

He said: “Many said I looked like him: crossing him in the Premier was, it’s incredible. I enjoy every moment.”

The Chelsea man has been enduring a number of setbacks on his return from injury that he suffered against his former club, Manchester City, back in January.

As soon as he been able to string a couple of appearances together, he has suffered another issue which has kept him out longer.

Injury saw him not selected for the recent England squad to compete in the European Championship qualifiers, however Gareth Southgate has already confirmed that he would have picked him if he was fully fit.

After his goal against Borussia Dortmund that kicked off the turnaround in the Champions League, he showed there is still a place for him in the rebuild under Graham Potter, after an underwhelming start to life back in London.
