Fabrizio Romano has claimed on his YouTube channel that Chelsea could try again later this month in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo.
Reports broke yesterday that the Blues have had their first bid to sign the Brighton midfield rejected, with the £55m offered by the Blues falling way below what the Seagulls are holding out for.
Interest in Caicedo follows the club’s already-strong efforts this month to sign a centre midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

They made a big effort to sign Enzo Fernandez earlier this month. However, reports eventually claimed that Chelsea had fallen way short of the valuation put on the player by the board at Benfica.
It was reported that they had immediately turned their attentions closer to home, and a pursuit of Caicedo.
Chelsea could return for Caicedo
Current Chelsea manager Graham Potter already has plenty of experience with the Ecuadorian after handing him his debut in the Premier League last season. He has previously described him as ‘fantastic’.
Now, Romano has claimed that the Blues may return with interest despite the prior rejected bid.
He said: “For Chelsea, the priority will be a midfielder. I said keep an eye on Moises Caicedo, a player they really like. This is still the case. Chelsea really love Moises Caicedo.

“It’s true that Brighton turned down an approach from Chelsea, but in the next days he will have new agents. So, this is going to be important to see if Chelsea will try again.”
A midfielder is on the agenda at Stamford Bridge due to the uncertainty of the future of the current crop at the club. Both N’golo Kante and Jorginho have contracts which are set to expire at the end of the season.
While there is confidence the former Leicester City man will stay, the Italy international is expected to leave when he is free to.
