Reports have claimed that Enzo Fernandez is unimpressed with Benfica and club president Rui Costa after last night’s developments over his move to Chelsea.

According to The Times, an offer to improve his contract for staying with the club in January has not gone down well with the 21-year-old.

Last night, it became known that the two clubs were still well apart on their valuation of the transfer, with it being reported Chelsea have gone back on their previous word in terms of fees.

This had followed days of speculation that the deal was in its final stages, and minor details were being discussed.

It appeared Fernandez was extremely keen on the move too. He had even missed training on one occasion in an attempt to force his club’s hand into letting him go.

Now though, The Times among others have claimed that terms are very different to what has already been reported, and Fernandez has been left frustrated as a result.

While it is currently unclear if the Blues will return with an improved offer for the World Cup winner, it has been claimed that they are beginning to eye up other targets following the setback.

One of these is Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, who was handed his Premier League debut by Graham Potter last season.

The Ecuador international has become an integral member of the Seagulls this season, starting every game up until a suspension ruled him out of the match against Arsenal.

There may be more of an appetite from the manager to chase Caicedo instead of any other midfield targets this month, due to his experience working with him in the past.

Potter has certainly favoured Marc Cucurella since making the move to Stamford Bridge, due to being familiar with his talents after his season at the Amex last year.
