Chelsea are expected to sign competition for Joao Pedro this summer, with Liam Delap’s future under the microscope, and the latest transfer target is greatly admired by Jamie Gittens.
Pedro remains the first choice, and Chelsea have made him ‘untouchable’ amid recent rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona. It feels like Barcelona have now moved on from the Brazil international.
After Christopher Nkunku, Jamie Gittens and Timo Werner, how do you feel about Chelsea signing players from Germany? 🇩🇪
But behind him, there is doubt. One thing Chelsea fans are sure about is the need to move on from Liam Delap. A £30m signing from Ipswich last summer, Delap managed just one Premier League goal in 25-26.
Delap is a target for five Premier League clubs going into the summer, with Chelsea keen to move on some of their players before bringing in signings. One player that is being linked is Karim Adeyemi.
Jamie Gittens is a big fan of Chelsea target Karim Adeyemi
Joining Dortmund in 2022, Adeyemi has gone on to play 146 times in all competitions for the German giants. In that time, he has had a hand in 61 goals – with Adeyemi producing 16 during the 25-26 term.
But this summer, Adeyemi will enter the final year of his contract. According to reports, Dortmund are unwilling to meet his wage demands and do not want to lose the attacker on a free in 12 months.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United and Aston Villa are all keen, with Dortmund willing to cash in Adeyemi for £35m. Jamie Gittens told TNT Sports he is a big fan of Adeyemi after playing with him at Dortmund.
After a Champions League win over Scottish champions Celtic the season prior to his move to Chelsea, Gittens admitted he is a big fan of Chelsea target Adeyemi: “He makes so many good things in games.
“In-behind runs are top, his finishing ability with his left and right foot, to score with power, which we’ve seen today also, he’s a very good, intelligent player to play with. I can learn from him in the future.”
Jamie Gittens and Karim Adeyemi’s relationship at Bayern
Before leaving for Chelsea in a £55m deal last summer, Gittens made 35 appearances for Dortmund alongside Adeyemi. However, and surprisingly, they failed to create a goal for each other in that time.
How many points are Chelsea taking out of a possible 1️⃣2️⃣?
Indeed, the duo only scored once in the same game, a Champions League win over AC Milan. But there is no doubt that if Chelsea sign Adeyemi, Gittens will be delighted – as long as he doesn’t replace him.
Gittens’ future at Chelsea is in doubt with Geovany Quenda set to join this summer. The arrival of Adeyemi from Dortmund would see the German star push Gittens further down the Chelsea rankings.
