Despite Barcelona’s clear admiration for Joao Pedro, Chelsea remains determined to hold onto the forward, viewing him as a key part of their future.

Joao Pedro remains one of the few bright spots in a turbulent season for Chelsea, though even he has been unable to escape the Blues’ collective decline.

Chelsea has found goals impossible to come by for long stretches, recently enduring a five-game goal drought in the league.

And while Pedro provided a stunning consolation bicycle kick against Nottingham Forest, the overall output remains disjointed.

With the club currently ninth and Champions League qualification slipping away, the pressure on the players to elevate their level has never been higher as they search for stability.

What’s the first thing that needs to change at Stamford Bridge?

Chelsea to keep Joao Pedro at all costs

Fabrizio Romano has shared Chelsea’s stance on Joao Pedro, given the fact that Barcelona have registered an interest in signing the Brazilian this summer.

“Joao Pedro is a player appreciated at Barcelona. But for Chelsea, he’s a crucial player and part of the project. They count on him, and it would send a bad message if he went.”

Interestingly, it has been claimed that Chelsea will be selling two of their strikers.

“Chelsea also still have striker Liam Delap on their books, teenage forward Marc Guiu and established starting option Joao Pedro, while Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha is set to join in the summer.

“Along with Jackson, at least two of those players are likely to be sold in the summer.”

Keeping Joao Pedro has to be the priority

Retaining Joao Pedro must be Chelsea’s absolute priority this summer.

With the Blues desperately needing to rebuild their identity, selling Pedro would send a disastrous message to both the fans and the dressing room, signaling a retreat from ambition.

While interest from Barcelona is inevitable given his quality, Chelsea must stand firm. Pedro is the foundation of the current project, and losing him would only further delay the return to the top.
