Jorge Mendes has told Chelsea that Ansu Fati would consider leaving Barcelona before Friday’s transfer deadline.

That is according to 90min.

So, what is the latest on Ansu Fati and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to Mundo Deportivo – Chelsea are strong contenders to sign the Spain international this summer, and Mauricio Pochettino is said to be very keen on getting a deal done.

Now – according to 90min – super agent Mendes has told the Blues that Fati would be open to leaving the Camp Nou before Friday’s deadline.

Chelsea have been alerted to this development, although Arsenal, Aston Villa and Tottenham are also exploring a deal for the Barcelona No.10 as we approach the deadline.

Fati – who has a release clause worth €1bn (£860m) written into his contract at Barcelona – has found himself out of favour under Xavi this season, playing just 47 minutes across the first three games in La Liga.

Nevertheless, the 20-year-old remains a potentially world class talent, who was the talk of Europe before suffering a serious injury at a crucial stage of his development.

There is a reason why Barcelona handed him Lionel Messi’s iconic No.10 shirt and also put an £860m release clause in his contract – to say the least.

Ansu Fati represents a very tempting opportunity for Chelsea

In our view, if Fati really is available before Friday’s transfer deadline, Chelsea have to act.

The Bissau-born forward has the potential to become a Ballon d’Or winner one day, and given the fact Todd Boehly seems intent on hoovering up football’s best young talent, it would surprise us if the American didn’t pounce on this opportunity.

Fati is capable of picking the ball up in between the lines and causing havoc in a No.10 role, while he can also mix things up and run in behind as a No.9 – the many strings to his bow surely appeals to Pochettino.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea are plotting to sign one more forward before the transfer deadline.
