Chelsea’s left-back search has led them to Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Carreras after Marc Cucurella’s move to join up with Jose Mourinho.
Xabi Alonso may have been hoping that Jose Mourinho and his former club could do him a favour in the transfer market this summer.
Marc Cucurella has already made his way to Madrid and Enzo Fernandez is seen as a priority target for the Spanish club as the transfer window approaches.
However, we have seen very little movement going the other way, despite Chelsea wanting the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras.
There is one thing that Chelsea could use to their advantage, and that is the £120 million fee that Real Madrid are currently unwilling to pay.

Jose Mourinho wants to keep Alvaro Carreras
AS have put the Alvaro Carreras saga to bed once and for all. They believe that Jose Mourinho has made the decision to keep the defender at Real Madrid this summer.
The player already knows it and in this way he puts an end to the rumours that the future of the Madrid academy player was far from the day-to-day life of Valdebebas.
Mourinho is counting on him and will form Real Madrid’s 26-27 left-back tandem with Cucurella, waiting to find out what happens with the now injured Ferland Mendy.
So Chelsea may be forced to pivot, with Lewis Hall an alternative option.
CHELSEA’S FIXTURES ARE ANNOUNCED!
Avoid dragging Valentin Barco into the wing-back battle
Valentin Barco’s rise at Strasbourg has been solely down to his performances in the middle of midfield, so to take him away for the sake of not buying a wing-back would be stupid.
Enzo Fernandez is exitt-bound at Chelsea, so naturally there will be the void left by him.
Jorrel Hato is relatively unproven at full-back, and perhaps lacks the attacking edge that someone like Marc Cucurella had before.
So for once in their lives, BlueCo need to go out and buy a proven, attack-minded full-back.
