Journalist: Leicester now interested in signing £120k-a-week Chelsea attacker, would be separate deal to Fofana

Leicester City may be interested in a move for Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer, it’s been claimed.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs reports on Twitter that the Foxes are keen on the 21-year-old attacker.

However, any interest in the Blues winger will be kept completely separate to Chelsea’s ongoing pursuit to sign Leicester defender Wesley Fofana.

Leicester centre-back Fofana, 21, is a player that’s been hotly discussed in the transfer rumour mill in recent days.

It’s been reported that Chelsea are preparing a second bid for the Frenchman after an opening £63million offer failed.

Leicester interested in Hudson-Odoi

Hudson-Odoi’s already made 126 first-team appearances for Chelsea, which is no real surprise when you consider how highly rated he was as a teenager working his way up the academy.

It does feel like the £120,000-a-week speedster is yet to really kick on to the levels most expected, though.

First of all, he’s an exciting wide player that’s shown his best form when he’s running at opponents with pace and trickery.

However, injuries have played a part in the last few years in him not developing as quickly as liked. Also, there’s been times where he’s dropped back into a wing-back position, so he can’t quite seem to nail down a permanent spot in the starting line-up.

Keep this season

It’s unclear on how much Leicester would be willing to pay for Hudson-Odoi, but Chelsea should keep their academy graduate for at least one more year.

The hope is now that he finds more consistency and end product to match his potential.

Raheem Sterling’s arrival should be a good influence on him as a role model to learn from, so it would be great to see the pair on both wings attacking opposition full-backs.
