Juventus want £60m for defender, Chelsea have been linked

Chelsea could have to pay £60m if they want to sign one defender from Juventus this summer.

Gleison Bremer is a player who Chelsea were looking at, Calciomercato.it claimed back in November.

And now, according to Calciomercato.com, Juventus will not sell the centre-back for anything lower than €70m (£59.9m).

If Chelsea do decide to sign Bremer, he could come in to replace his compatriot Thiago Silva.

The Brazilian is out of contract at the end of the season and the Blues are yet to put a new one down on the table for him to put his signature on.

Will Chelsea make £60m move for Gleison Bremer?

There have not really been any fresh links to Bremer, who used to watch David Luiz play when he was at Chelsea, so the 26-year-old does not appear to be at the top of the club’s list right now.

At this moment in time, Chelsea appear to be prioritising other central defenders. For example, it has been reported that Sporting Lisbon’s Ousmane Diomande is their top defensive target going into the summer transfer window.

Until then, though, Mauricio Pochettino will have to continue to rely on the likes of Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill, which is not a bad thing.

The two centre-halves were excellent in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City last Saturday, dealing with all of the danger that came their way.

During that game, Disasi made 16 clearances — more than any other player — while Colwill recorded 10 (WhoScored).

It could be Chelsea’s long-term central defensive partnership, though the arrival of Bremer, Diomande or someone else could break it up. Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah are also all still at the club.

Honestly, if Badiashile and Fofana could stay fit, Chelsea probably would not even need to go out and spend £60m on Bremer or another centre-back, but it looks like they will.
