Christian Pulisic is expected to leave Chelsea this summer with an obligation to buy in any transfer move.

That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.

Phillips has reported on his Substack that Christian Pulisic is ‘likely’ to leave Stamford Bridge on loan this season.

It is explained that the ideal scenario is to send him to a club outside the Premier League.

In particular, we’re drawn to the claim that any loan should include an obligation to buy.

Also, the 24-year-old would sign a contract extension for a year before leaving on loan because his current deal expires in 2024.

Speaking with ESPN this week, Pulisic has explained that he needs to be playing at a club where he feels trusted and good in what he’s doing.

It does sound pretty convincing that the £58million Blues winger wants out of west London this summer. Can we find him a suitable club, though?

He scored just one goal in 30 Chelsea appearances across all competitions last season, which simply isn’t good enough for a player with his individual talent.

Therefore, the United States international needs something new next season to try reignite his form.

Pulisic has had chances under numerous different managers during his time at Chelsea, but he just can’t quite seem to fulfil his potential at Stamford Bridge.

The American forward, who’s scored 23 goals in 57 caps for his country, can be a delight to watch when he’s in the mood.

From the outside looking in, Pulisic’s lost all confidence when he steps on the pitch at club level. He’s certainly not showing the kind of flair and end product in the final third he’s capable of.
