Fresh transfer rumours suggest that Liverpool may be interested in signing Chelsea’s key first-team player.

On Sunday, Chelsea secured a crucial 3-1 Premier League win at home against Liverpool to boost their chances of finishing in the top five positions, which would secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.

In fairness, Reds boss Arne Slot made several changes to his line-up because his side has already wrapped up the league title with games to spare.

Following the weekend’s match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot complimented Chelsea by claiming he’s surprised his team is so far ahead of them in the division standings after two challenging fixtures against them this season.

Now, speculation suggests that the Merseyside club would like to sign Chelsea’s star player.

Liverpool keen on signing Cole Palmer from Chelsea

Respected journalist Simon Phillips reports via Substack that Liverpool are showing a ‘strong interest’ in signing Chelsea’s Cole Palmer as soon as this summer.

Apparently, Liverpool have already been in touch with the attacking midfielder’s representatives.

It is explained that sources don’t anticipate the England international will leave Stamford Bridge in the upcoming summer transfer window, but playing in the Champions League competition is vital for his future.

Palmer, who turned 23 on Tuesday, is still under contract with the Blues on a long-term deal that doesn’t expire until 2033.

Ally McCoist’s prediction on Cole Palmer’s future is that he’ll stay at Chelsea despite being so talented that he’s bound to attract transfer interest. If there’s one Blues star that supporters would hate losing the most, it’s probably him.

Cole Palmer returned to form by tormenting Liverpool

Even though Palmer’s form has dipped in 2025, he was back to his dazzling best to deliver an outstanding performance on Sunday versus Liverpool.

The left-footed playmaker was a major attacking threat all game. He ended his goal drought with a late penalty kick, too.

It felt inevitable that a player with his individual ability would soon rediscover his form, so hopefully he’s back to his best just in time for the crunch fixtures at the end of the campaign.

Earlier in the season, Jason Cundy described Cole Palmer as “special” because of the influence he has on football matches.
