Chelsea remain locked in negotiations with Manchester United over the potential signing of Alejandro Garnacho.

Earlier this month, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared that talks between Chelsea and United were underway as the former look to sign the winger.

Since then, nothing has been agreed, but Romano has given some very interesting updates on negotiations.

United drew 1-1 with Chelsea‘s west London rivals Fulham on Sunday, but Garnacho was not part of the squad as he inches closer to the Old Trafford exit door.

Tyrique George’s name was brought up in Alejandro Garnacho discussions

With Garnacho expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes, Tyrique George is likely to leave.

AS Roma are interested in George, but it looks like United were also a potential destination for him at one point.

According to Romano, in Chelsea’s discussions with United over signing Garnacho, George’s name was discussed.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist said: “There were some rumours on the possibility to include Tyrique George as part of the conversation between Manchester United and Chelsea. This is a behind-the-scenes story I can reveal to you in these negotiations, Chelsea, Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho.

“But from what I’m told, this option was already stopped a few weeks ago. So at the moment, Tyrique George is not part of those conversations, at least as of now. He’s not part of that conversation any more.”

While it may no longer be something that the two clubs are discussing, you would still expect George to depart on loan or permanently, especially if Garnacho does join Enzo Maresca‘s squad. The 19-year-old is likely to see little game time this season.

Chelsea fans think Alejandro Garnacho would be an upgrade on Tyrique George

Chelsea supporters are not afraid of signing Garnacho at the expense of George.

At the beginning of August, several Chelsea fans took to social media to make it clear that Garnacho would be an upgrade on George.

That is understandable, as the former is further in his development being a few years older than the latter.

Nevertheless, George is still a player with a lot of talent and potential. When Tosin Adarabioyo spoke about George in May, he said: “For me, he’s a very talented boy.”

The problem is, though, Chelsea have too much talent, which is why George may have to explore his options between now and the end of the transfer window. As of now, though, United do not appear to be one.
