Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Chelsea may need to dip into the transfer market again to sign another attacker.
The Blues were dealt a cruel blow recently when it was confirmed this week that Blues forward Christopher Nkunku, 25, suffered a significant knee injury during the pre-season schedule.
Journalist Dean Jones reported on GiveMeSport this week that Nkunku could be sidelined until the New Year due to the knee problem he picked up in a warm-up game against Borussia Dortmund.
Now, Chelsea’s head coach has admitted his club may bring in some kind of replacement.

Pochettino has explained in a Friday press conference that Chelsea may be open to bringing in a Nkunku replacement.
“He (Nkunku) was very important for us. Now it’s about not thinking too much about the injuries and being positive about when he can be back with us as soon as possible,” Pochettino said, as quoted by Football.London.
“We are working in the market also, trying to find a solution, maybe short term, medium and long term to find the right profile for the team.”

Nkunku, who earns £195,000-a-week (Spotrac), looked like he could become a central figure for Chelsea during his debut season with the club.
Unfortunately, the versatile French forward leaves a big hole in the squad due to his ability to play anywhere across the frontline or even in a No 10 role.
We’re convinced Nkunku will grow into the talisman most people expect when he’s ready again, but missing him for half a season is something the club are right to address while the window is still open.
We’ll wait to hear some more concrete developments regarding targets but some names have been floated about this summer in various transfer speculation that we think fit the criteria. For instance, Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, Lyon’s Rayan Cherki and Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus all sound like decent options to consider.
