Chelsea have now agreed a deal to sign Axel Disasi from Monaco – a player who was wanted by Manchester United and Newcastle.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
So, what is the situation involving Axel Disasi and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Blues were on the lookout for a new central defender after Wesley Fofana ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
The likes of Marc Guehi and Harry Maguire have been mentioned as potential options for Mauricio Pochettino.
Now – however – Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Disasi.
Romano believes Chelsea have beaten Manchester United and Newcastle to the France international’s signature, and he will sign a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge once he passes a medical.

The reliable Italian journalist adds that Chelsea will pay Monaco a sum of €45m (£39m) for the 25-year-old.
Disasi’s move to the Premier League comes after he enjoyed a stunning 2022/23 campaign, scoring six goals and also providing four assists in 49 appearances while playing in defence.
Axel Disasi is a great signing by Chelsea
In our view, this is a superb bit of business.
The Gonesse-born defender is an established talent across European football, and will bring solid experience to Chelsea at a time where the Blues are mainly focusing on recruiting young, inexperienced talent.
Disasi – who has been described as a “complete defender” by Ligue 1 analytics – will bring a real presence to Pochettino’s backline, and will also presumably act as a nice foil for the left footed Levi Colwill.

According to RMC Sport, those inside Chelsea rate Disasi very highly – now, they have managed to get him to Stamford Bridge, in what can be considered a very exciting deal.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea should officially announce the signing soon.
