Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher is a player that has grabbed the attention of Newcastle United.
That is according to fresh transfer speculation this morning.
The January transfer window closed yesterday with a pretty quiet deadline day, but that’s unlikely to prevent rumours in the media continue about certain players.
Conor Gallagher, 23, ended up staying at Stamford Bridge this winter despite talk of a potential exit.
We’re still cautious that his current deal expires in under 18 months, though.

The Athletic claims that Newcastle really admire Chelsea and England midfielder Gallagher.
It is understood that the Premier League club are likely to be quite busy when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season.
The report mentions that Newcastle will look at strengthening their midfield position. They admire Chelsea’s Gallagher, Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
Newcastle rate Conor Gallagher
We doubt rumours about Gallagher’s future will go away until there’s a breakthrough with a new contract.
Journalist Ben Jacobs told GiveMeSport last week that Chelsea were open to hear offers for Gallagher during the January window. Apparently, all parties are at a standstill in contract negotiations, so his sale for the right price would be allowed.
There’s now a period of time for the Blues to get Gallagher’s future sorted once and for all, but we become more and more worried the longer this saga drags out.
The box-to-box midfielder has been a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s XI during the first half of the season. Will that continue in the months ahead?
We do think it’s worth mentioning that Gallagher’s spot should come under increasing pressure with Carney Chukwuemeka’s return.
