'Next few hours': Arsenal to hold talks with £43m star today, after he's linked with move to Chelsea - Romano

Arsenal are reportedly set for talks today over a move for Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus, who’s been linked with Chelsea already this summer.

According to well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are set for discussions on Thursday in an attempt to bring Jesus to the Emirates Stadium.

It is understood the 25-year-old’s still a main target for the Gunners this summer, so they will try reach an agreement during talks.

Romano adds there’s a “100%” chance the centre-forward leaves Man City during this transfer window.

Brazil international Jesus is someone that’s popped up in Chelsea transfer speculation several times lately, including a recent claim from Romano that the Blues have entered talks themselves to sign him. The forward is going to cost at least €50million (£43million) this summer, though.

Arsenal talks for Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal don’t have the pull of Champions League football to offer players next season, but they’re still an ambitious club with a lot history.

For Jesus, it’ll be interesting to see if he’s willing to give up the Champions League by ditching Man City for Arsenal.

The Brazilian finished the most recent season with 13 goals and 12 assists for Man City, but found himself in and out of the starting line-up. He’s a central striker that often has to unselfishly play out of position in a wide role, too.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta previously worked alongside him at the Etihad Stadium, so could that be a contributing factor in the player’s decision?

Chelsea should intervene

Jesus has got the potential to take his game to another level if he joins a Premier League rival next season.

The versatile attacker has an impressive 95 goals in 236 Man City appearances, but it still feels like he’s yet to reach his peak as a player.

It’s obvious Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea needs attacking reinforcements to score more goals.
