Erik ten Hag has now told Jadon Sancho to improve his performances in training – just days after the Manchester United No.25 was linked with Chelsea.
It was Fabrizio Romano who claimed that Chelsea were offered the chance to sign the England international while holding talks with Manchester United about Marc Cucurella.
So, what is the situation involving Jadon Sancho? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, if Chelsea planned to make another move for the 23-year-old man in January, he may end up proving to be more easily attainable after this spat with his boss.
Sancho was dropped by Ten Hag as Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, and told the media after full-time that the winger needs to improve.
The BBC quote the Dutchman as saying: “Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”

Sancho hit back at Ten Hag with a statement posted on Twitter, in which he said he feels like a “scapegoat” at Old Trafford and encouraged fans not to believe what the 53-year-old had accused him of.
Chelsea must be wary of signing Jadon Sancho
After this incident, Chelsea must have their reservations about signing Sancho.
Regardless of whether the Camberwell-born winger or Ten Hag are correct, there are clearly issues surrounding the Manchester United outcast.

Sancho has only scored 12 goals in 82 appearances following his £73m move from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021, so Chelsea need to be certain it’s Manchester United holding him back if Mauricio Pochettino does decide to make a move.
If Chelsea spend big – only to find that Ten Hag was right – then it would be a nightmare for the Blues.
