Fabrizio Romano reports that Enzo Fernandez is eager to break away from Benfica, with Chelsea waiting to capture him.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, Romano claimed Fernandez is keen for a move to England to materialise next month.
The 21-year-old remains the hot topic of transfer rumours ahead of the January window, which officially opens in just a few days.
His contribution towards Argentina’s World Cup triumph has made him one of the market’s most talked about players.

Especially amongst Chelsea circles, where he appears to be the top midfield priority for Todd Boehly.
Boehly is apparently willing to pay Benfica the big bucks to sign their midfielder, a figure that could rise above his £106m release clause.
Enzo Fernandez wants to enzgo to Chelsea
Fernandez will reportedly gladly accept Boehly’s offer, having already said yes to a switch to South West London.
A destination that, according to Romano, could be on his wish list.
“Fernandez would love to play in the Premier League so he’s now pushing for a move,” said the transfer guru.
“Chelsea are considering a move for Fernandez and discussions are ongoing. Again, timing will be crucial.”
Benfica would understandably be hesitant to let their number 13 set sail for Stamford Bridge mid-way through the season.

They are currently top of the Primeira Liga and have a Champions League knock-out tie to contend on the horizon.
Losing Fernandez ahead of such a crucial period could be detrimental.
On the flip side, Chelsea may be able to reignite their campaign with the Argentine international in Graham Potter’s squad.
Only one party can be kept happy; let it be the Blues, not Benfica.
