Caicedo will cost at least £70million

Journalist Ben Jacobs has explained that Chelsea’s ongoing interest in Caicedo is “one to watch” and they could yet make a move.

He adds that Brigthton are going to demand somewhere between £70million and £75million to sell him, though.

Jacobs wrote on Twitter: “Moises Caicedo to Chelsea is one to watch. There is a real sense, from multiple sources, Chelsea may move. Graham Potter when still at Brighton joked £42m would only ‘get his boots’. Brighton want around £70-£75million.”

On paper, Caicedo looks like he’d be an excellent signing for the Blues. The crazy transfer fees in the current market are enough to stress out any supporters, though.

He’s an energetic midfielder definitely built in a similar mould to N’Golo Kante.

The Athletic claims Chelsea are confident that 31-year-old Kante will sign a new contract at the Bridge and won’t leave in the summer. However, it would be great to have a like-for-like replacement in the squad given his horrid record with injuries in recent years.
