One player who has been linked to Chelsea could have the opportunity to leave his club at the end of the season.

At this moment in time, Enzo Maresca will be happy with his attacking options. The Chelsea manager has the likes of Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke thriving in the forward line.

Up front, he also has Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, who have been scoring goals this season. The latter just netted twice in the Conference League.

However, Nkunku is not a natural centre-forward and has only been a bit-part player under Maresca. It means that the 26-year-old could end up leaving Chelsea next summer, which would leave them needing to sign a new striker.

Benjamin Sesko could leave RB Leipzig

It has been claimed that Sesko is one striker who is currently on Chelsea’s shortlist.

The 21-year-old remained at RB Leipzig during the summer but could depart the Red Bull Arena next year.

According to journalist Philipp Hinze, Sesko has a “gentleman’s agreement” to leave Leipzig in the summer of 2025 if that is what he desires.

Hinze has also reported that the German club could demand up to €75m (£62.2m) for their centre-forward.

Which other clubs could Benjamin Sesko join?

If Chelsea want to sign Sesko next summer, then they may need to see off competition from London rivals Arsenal.

The Gunners are another club who are thought to be interested in the Slovenian. In fact, Arsenal were confident about signing Sesko in the last transfer window.

Another journalist, Christian Falk, has reported that Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also interested in Sesko.

Whoever ends up with the Slovenia international will be getting a top striker with a lot of potential.

“I thought he was outstanding,” former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer said on the Optus Sport Football Podcast after one of Sesko’s performances in Euro 2024.

If Sesko does decide that he wants to leave Leipzig at the end of the season, there could be quite the tussle for his signature.
