Chelsea have just received links again in the transfer rumour mill with a Premier League striker.

The Blues have been linked with numerous centre-forwards in the last few days, including Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed via X that Atletico will sell Omorodion to Chelsea once they sign Julian Alvarez.

Meanwhile, The Independent has claimed that Napoli are desperate to sell Osimhen this summer.

Evan Ferguson mentioned at Chelsea this week

Respected journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack that he’s heard from one source Brighton’s Evan Ferguson has been mentioned at Chelsea again this week.

It is understood that the 19-year-old Brighton striker is admired by some decision makers at Stamford Bridge and the Blues have heavily scouted him recently.

Phillips explains that Ferguson to Chelsea is unlikely still unless the Seagulls lower their demands, which they’ve said they won’t do.

90min reported back in May that Brighton frontman Ferguson was on Chelsea’s radar. His name has cropped up again during a busy week, but we’ll wait to see if the speculation ramps up.

Evan Ferguson too risky

The speculation points towards Chelsea going elsewhere in their search for a new No 9. In fairness, it’s probably wise to stay clear of Brighton’s young centre-forward for now.

Ferguson’s definitely an exciting teenage talent, scoring 16 goals in 65 Brighton first-team appearances so far. It wouldn’t be a major shock if he does go on to have a very successful career because he’s got great physical attributes to lead the line.

Unfortunately, the Republic of Ireland international had a quieter season last year at the Amex Stadium, which came fresh off a lot of hype and talk around him.

During an interview with TNT Sports earlier this year, James Milner described Ferguson as “phenomenal”. The teenager is still a very raw talent learning his craft in the Premier League and Chelsea already have a super young squad of players.
