Matheus Franca is now feeling very excited about the prospect of joining Chelsea as the Blues prepare to send a bid to Flamengo.

Well – according to the Daily Mail – Chelsea are exploring a deal to sign the Brazilian wonderkid.

An earlier update from Romano on YouTube revealed that the Blues will make an opening offer worth £17m with add-ons bumping the fee up a bit.

He said: “Chelsea will have direct contact (with Flamengo) this week. Flamengo want around €25m (£21m). Chelsea will offer something around €20m (£17m). The add-on structure could be important.”

Now – thanks to the reliable Italian journalist – we have been given some insight regarding how Franca feels about Chelsea’s interest.

Romano told Give Me Sport: “Matheus Franca is really appreciated. He is a player that they have been following for a long time. I can mention that the player will be really excited about the possibility of joining Chelsea.”

Interestingly, Todd Boehly seems keen to hoover up the best young talents from Brazil.

Chelsea have already sealed a £12.8m deal to sign Angelo Gabriel from Santos, and the South American prodigy will be sent on loan to Strasbourg to receive immediate first-team football.

The expectation is that Franca will also be loaned to the Ligue 1 side, after Boehly completed a 100% takeover of the French outfit and hired Patrick Vieira to manage them.

If Chelsea can get both Angelo and Franca exposed to regular senior football next season in a top European league, they could become huge players for the Blues in the 2024/25 campaign.
