As you may have heard, Chelsea are exploring a deal to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon this summer.
A story from Football London states that the Blues are considering a move for the French wonderkid.
Now, an old video of Rayan Cherki has emerged online which will surely interest Chelsea fans.
What’s the story?
Well – back in January 2020 – Lyon sat down with the attacker to ask him some quick fire questions on YouTube.
One of those quick fire questions was, Chelsea or Manchester United?
With little hesitation, Cherki responded “Chelsea” in what was a little glimpse of his admiration for the Blues.
Of course, a one-word answer is not exactly a huge declaration of love for Chelsea, although it is certainly an interesting development to consider if Lyon decide to sell the 19-year-old this summer.

Respected journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Substack that Chelsea are exploring what it will take to sign Cherki this summer, as Todd Boehly continues his drive to snap up the best young talent on the planet.
Chelsea should sign Rayan Cherki and loan him back to Lyon
In our view, it is a bit early for Cherki to come to the Premier League.
Despite his immense talent – he has the potential to become one of the best players around one day – the France Under-21 international is still a little bit rough in some areas.
Lyon expert Nicholas Mamo told Football London that Cherki’s work out of possession needs some improvement, as well as his decision making.

He said: “His off-the-ball movement, involvement when the team is out of possession, decision-making on the ball and finishing all need a lot of work. He doesn’t even have a whole season of first-team football under his belt. He needs at least one or two more seasons of regular football to improve.”
However, Chelsea do not want to risk waiting until Cherki explodes before making a move, as he could end up being worth close to £100m in that instance.
Therefore, we believe the Blues should look to find an agreement with Lyon this summer, before loaning the teenager back to the French giants for the 2023/24 campaign.
