Robert Sanchez has now agreed to join Chelsea after Mauricio Pochettino decided to target the Brighton No.1 as competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
That is according to the Daily Mail’s Transfer Confidential email (sign-up link here).
So, what is the latest on Robert Sanchez and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, it was Nathan Gissing who initially revealed that Chelsea had internally decided to target the Spain international, after losing Edouard Mendy to Al-Ahli.
Charlie Parker-Turner of the Express added that Ben Roberts, Chelsea’s Goalkeeping Coach, is particularly keen on a reunion with Sanchez, who he worked alongside at Brighton for many years.
Now – according to the Daily Mail – the Spaniard has agreed to join Chelsea.
Sanchez – who has made 87 Premier League appearances – is keen to leave Brighton after losing his place under Roberto De Zerbi, and views Stamford Bridge as the ideal destination for a fresh start.

The Daily Mail believe the 25-year-old is likely to cost around £30m.
However, according to the aforementioned Parker-Turner, Brighton are also open to loaning Sanchez out.
De Zerbi promoted Jason Steele to the No.1 spot ahead of Sanchez midway through last season, and has since signed Bart Verbruggen to add even more competition in the goalkeeping department.
Chelsea face Robert Sanchez problem
The Daily Mail do mention one problem Chelsea are set to face with Sanchez.
It is said that agreeing a fee for the goalkeeper may prove difficult with Brighton, partly due to the ongoing talks between Chelsea and the Seagulls for Moises Caicedo.

It suggests that Chelsea and Brighton’s relationship has been damaged by prolonged talks about the Ecuador international, who the Seagulls are still refusing to sell – they have rejected an £80m bid from the Blues.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea and Brighton continue to hold talks about Caicedo as well as Sanchez.
