Mauricio Pochettino and those on the recruitment team at Chelsea have now decided to target Brighton glovesman Robert Sanchez.
That is according to Nathan Gissing.
So, what is the situation involving Robert Sanchez and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, Chelsea have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer after allowing Edouard Mendy to join Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
The likes of Andre Onana, David Raya and Diogo Costa have been mentioned as potential options for Chelsea.
Now – however – the Blues have decided to pursue Sanchez to compete for the No.1 shirt with Kepa.
Gissing believes Chelsea have settled on the Spain international after holding internal discussions, and now plan to make contact with Brighton over a deal for the 25-year-old.

Sanchez made 23 appearances in the Premier League last season, conceding 30 goals while also keeping six clean sheets.
However, the Spaniard lost his place under Roberto De Zerbi to Jason Steele, and is now seemingly on the market this summer after Brighton signed another goalkeeper in Bart Verbruggen.
The Daily Mail believe Brighton value Sanchez at £30m.
Chelsea know Robert Sanchez well
Now, some Chelsea fans may feel underwhelmed to hear that Pochettino is targeting someone who isn’t even Brighton’s first choice goalkeeper.
However, those inside Stamford Bridge – most of whom were plucked from Brighton by Todd Boehly – know Sanchez well, and rate him highly.
According to The Athletic, one of those staff members, Ben Roberts – Chelsea’s Goalkeeping Coach – worked with Sanchez for many years at Brighton, and believes he is a superb glovesman.

Therefore, Chelsea fans doubting this move should consider trusting those who know the Cartagena-born goalkeeper much better than we do.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation – in truth, a deal shouldn’t take long if Brighton are open to selling Sanchez, as Chelsea and the Seagulls have been in regular contact this summer about Moises Caicedo, so all parties are well acquainted.
