Chelsea have already made several signings this summer, bringing in the likes of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

The Blues have just confirmed the arrival of Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion and even more attacking additions could be on their way to Stamford Bridge.

Once a deal for Jamie Gittens is also wrapped up, Chelsea could then go all out for Mohammed Kudus.

As well as incomings, though, exits are expected, with one player already nearly out of the door.

Sunderland close to signing Djordje Petrovic

Djordje Petrovic‘s short Chelsea career appears to be over as Sunderland inch closer to signing the goalkeeper.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed on X that Sunderland are “close to finalising” a deal that will see Petrovic depart Stamford Bridge for the Stadium of Light.

The 25-year-old is unlikely to be a happy man right now. Petrovic wanted guarantees that he would be Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper next season.

However, with the Conference League winners not offering him any, the Serbian was left out of their squad for the Club World Cup and effectively put up for sale.

As things stand, then, Enzo Maresca will go into the new season with Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen as his two main shot-stoppers.

Mike Penders is with the Chelsea first team right now, but it is likely that he will be loaned out to help with his development.

Why Djordje Petrovic hasn’t convinced Chelsea and Enzo Maresca

Petrovic was probably the best goalkeeper in Ligue 1 last season. The Serbia international kept 10 clean sheets for Strasbourg and had a save percentage of 78.8%, as per FBref.

Chelsea and Maresca still have doubts about Petrovic and his ability on the ball, though, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

With that being the case, given how Maresca wants his Chelsea team to play, Petrovic was always fighting a losing battle if the above is the concern his manager has. He will now have to try and prove him wrong as a Sunderland player.
