Nottingham Forest are interested in signing a Chelsea-owned player this summer.

In the current Premier League season, Nottingham Forest are huge rivals to Chelsea in the fight to finish in the Champions League positions.

There’s very little to separate the two clubs, too.

Interestingly, there’s a couple of former Chelsea players starring at the City Ground for Forest this campaign. Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ola Aina, who both started out in the Blues academy, are key individuals for the Reds.

It’s been claimed that Chelsea could be interested in re-signing Ola Aina this summer, but Forest are attempting to negotiate a new deal for their right-back.

Nottingham Forest monitoring Renato Veiga

According to GiveMeSport, Forest have been scouting Chelsea’s Renato Veiga recently as they look for potential defensive reinforcements ahead of the summer.

Veiga, who only joined the Blues last July, was shipped out on loan to Juventus in January for the rest of the season.

The versatile 21-year-old star has been excelling as a centre-back in Turin, but he proved in the first half of the campaign in Chelsea colours he can play left-back or defensive midfield as well.

It was previously reported that Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is “crazy” about Renato Veiga and he only agreed to the player’s loan because there was no buy clause.

However, fresh reports claim that Renato Veiga is available to buy for £30m in the summer, which we think could be a major mistake.

The Portugal international has proven his quality and potential in the 2024/25 season across two different clubs, so allowing him to leave would be bizarre.

Renato Veiga sale would send worrying message

If Forest ramped up interest in Veiga and ended up signing him, we’d be confident that the left-footed youngster would become a huge success for them.

The reality is that the Portugal international doesn’t deserve to be sold by Chelsea.

When Veiga arrived at Stamford Bridge at the start of the season, he signed a seven-year deal. If the Blues sell him after just one year, it sends out completely the wrong message to every player that considers joining them.

Not only are we against giving up on someone after just a year, but in the case of Veiga, we’ve seen enough in him to suggest he’s got a really bright future ahead of him.
