Mason Mount will undergo a medical early next week ahead of his summer transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United.
That is according to journalist David Ornstein.
Mason Mount, who’s been on Chelsea’s books since a young boy, is now set to seal a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old’s been linked with a switch to Old Trafford in the past few weeks, and it looks like it’s close to competition.

Ornstein, who’s a well-respected journalist for The Athletic, has delivered an update on one of the summer’s big transfer stories.
He explains that United have now agreed a deal with Chelsea for Mount, which is a £55million sum with £5million in potential add-ons.
The English attacking midfielder is now due for a medical next week before a “pretty surprising” move away from west London.
“It all relates back to Mason Mount not agreeing a new contract with Chelsea. That’s pretty surprising given he’s been at the club pretty much his whole career and he has played such a fundamental role in recent times,” Ornstein said, as quoted by Football Daily.
“As the contract situation rumbled on, interest started to gather pace from other clubs. For a long time Liverpool seemed to be leading the race, Arsenal entered it, there was interest from Thomas Tuchel on behalf of Bayern Munich but Manchester United was the club that Mount leaned towards joining. Once that was the case, it was down to the clubs to agree on a fee, which was not easy.
“…It’s going to be £55million with £5million in add-ons making it a £60million package. Those £5million in add-ons are pretty difficult to achieve and if Manchester United do achieve they’ll be absolutely delighted to pay it. I would expect a medical early next week, personal terms in place.”

If you had told us a year ago that Mount will end up leaving Chelsea for United, we would have been absolutely stunned.
However, the Blues are selling the attacking midfielder rather than allowing him to see out the final year of his contract.
It’s going to take some getting used to seeing Mount play in red, but no single player is bigger than the club.
The Evening Standard reported this week that Chelsea plan to swoop for Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga if they sell Mount.
So, will we soon see a new attacking midfielder arrive at Stamford Bridge?
