Chelsea are set to make a move to sign Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga if they sell Mason Mount to Manchester United.
That is according to The Evening Standard.
There’s a lot of talk in the media regarding the future of Mason Mount, 24, whose current deal at Stamford Bridge expires in 2024.
The Guardian has explained that Chelsea may be willing to strike a compromise to allow Mount to join Man United this summer. Also, the attacking midfielder’s relationship with the club has deteriorated, so it could be best for all parties if a transfer to Old Trafford is agreed.
If Mount does go, the Blues may already have his replacement in their sights.

The Evening Standard says that Chelsea are expected to try sign Gabri Veiga if the Mount sale goes through.
It is understood that the Celta Vigo star is viewed as Chelsea’s top target for the attacking midfield position, which may need strengthening in this window after various departures
The report adds that Mauricio Pochettino’s side has already sounded out a potential transfer for the 21-year-old to join them. He’s got a release clause worth £34.6million.
Veiga is a very exciting youngster making a name for himself in Spain, scoring 11 La Liga goals last season.
But will we see the Spain Under-21 international playing in the Premier League soon?

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti paid Veiga huge credit back in April by describing him as a “quality” player, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Celta Vigo did a great job allowing him to have a breakout season last year in Spain.
We feel it’s only a matter of time until one of the big clubs come calling.
