Real Madrid reportedly have a plan to land Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez as they look to strengthen their midfield.

Enzo Fernandez has been one of Chelsea‘s most important players this season. In total, the 24-year-old has made 20 appearances in the Premier League and scored three goals.

It is hard to imagine the Blues entertaining any kind of offer for him this month. Nevertheless, it has been claimed that Real Madrid could have something up their sleeves.

Fernandez is set for a quick return from injury after missing Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

Real Madrid ready to offer Aurelien Tchouameni to Chelsea

In their bid to land Fernandez this month, a report from D Sports has claimed that Real Madrid are planning to offer Aurelien Tchouameni in a swap deal.

According to the outlet, Real Madrid are ready to go “all out” to sign the Argentine, hence their willingness to hand over Tchouameni.

With Romeo Lavia still out injured, Chelsea are not in the position to sell any of their midfielders right now, especially one as good as Fernandez.

Enzo Maresca thinks Fernandez is improving at Chelsea, recently praising the Argentina international for understanding the game better compared to the beginning of the season.

Chelsea could be getting a ‘fantastic player’ in Aurelien Tchouameni

Real Madrid manager and former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti rates Tchouameni very highly.

Speaking to TNT Sports about the 24-year-old after one game last season, Ancelotti said: “Without three centre-backs, Tchouameni played a fantastic game as a centre-back. It’s an emergency now, but we understand he’s a fantastic player in every place you put him. He’s good as a number six, but also as a centre-back.”

There is not one Chelsea fan who would turn down Tchouameni but not at the expense of Fernandez.

Again, the former Benfica man is such a crucial player for the Blues. This term, he has become a playmaker for Chelsea.

In Maresca’s squad, only Cole Palmer (six) has registered more assists than Fernandez (four) in the Premier League, while the World Cup winner is also second for key passes per game (2.1), according to WhoScored.

With deadline day fast-approaching, there is no way Chelsea are going to allow Fernandez to join Real Madrid.
